Introduction

The Jimmie Hale Mission was founded in March, 1944, by a converted alcoholic named Jimmie Hale. He wanted to help others who were struggling with life as he had.

The Mission started out as a storefront chapel over the years grew to include a shelter for men, community soup kitchen, alcohol and drug recovery program, and a shelter for women and children.

We now have three facilities: Brother Leo Men's Center, Royal Pines Center, and Jessie's Place.

The Brother Leo Men's Center houses our Homeless Shelter for men, our Downtown Recovery Program, Community Soup Kitchen, Men's Clothing Distribution and our nightly Chapel Service Program.

Women and children are the fastest growing population of the "new homeless". Due to the demand, it was necessary for us to provide a much needed shelter for women and children.

We are grateful to God for His provision through caring people.

For Laymen - Our Mission Gideon Squadron is a program designed for men to witness 1-2-1. Servin one hour a month could make a n important difference in someone's life.

For The Churches - The Jimmie Hale Mission needs volunteers to participate in Chapel Service at 7 p.m.

For Women - To assist at the Women and Children Shelter.
"... this woman was abounding with deeds of kindness and charity, which she continually did." -Acts 9:36

For People OF All Ages - Our Soup Kitchen serves food to the hungry each evening at 5:15 p.m. We need you to help us help others in this area!
"For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat..." - Matthew 25:35

The business office is located at 2305 Fifth Avenue North. The executive director of the mission is Tony Cooper. All finacial contributions are to be made through this office.

An interdenominational Christian ministry to the hungry, homeless and hurting in Birmingham, The Jimmie Hale Mission receives no government or United Way funding. All services are through gifts of concerned and caring individuals.

Whatever you are able to do ... volunteer work, prayers, gifts or donations... you can make a real difference to the homeless and hurting people through your support.

Please contact the center you are interested in helping in the areas of volunteering, Bible study or in any other area of service.

If you are interested in making finiancial contributions please contact the Business Office at (205)328-5878. You can sponsor meals, and shelter.
The cost of each meal is $1.50 per meal.
The cost of shelter is $15.00 per day (does not include meal).
